Bible Verses About Strength: 6 Scriptures to Encourage Your Heart

Fear. Hopelessness. Trauma.

Many of the orphans and widows we serve together have survived heartbreaking pasts. They’ve watched parents become sick or pass away. They’ve lost spouses to war or been separated from the people they love most. And many of the children have experienced grief before they were old enough to understand it.

Three children praying around a table.When they arrive at a Kinship Family, they're welcomed with love, compassion, and patience. Day by day, they begin to heal. They discover they are safe, valued, and never alone. As they grow in faith and experience the love of a family, they find the strength to move forward.

But strength isn't just important in the healing process. It's a theme woven throughout the Bible. Again and again, God reminds His people that true strength comes from Him.

So, what does the Bible say about strength? Here are six encouraging Bible verses that remind us where lasting strength is found.

Isaiah 41:10

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Philippians 4:13

"I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

2 Timothy 1:7

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."

Isaiah 40:31

"...but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."

Psalm 29:11

"The Lord gives strength to his people;
the Lord blesses his people with peace."

Deuteronomy 31:6

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Finding Strength in God Every Day

Strength doesn't always look like having all the answers or never feeling afraid. Sometimes, it looks like taking one more step, choosing hope one more time, or trusting that God is with you even on the hardest days.

We see that kind of strength every day through the children, widows, and families in Kinships around the world. Their stories remind us that God's strength can bring healing after heartbreak, courage after fear, and hope where it once seemed impossible.

These Bible verses about strength are a reminder that you don't have to carry your burdens alone. The same God who gives strength to those we serve is faithful to strengthen you, too. May His promises give you courage today.
