Lydia’s Story: Abandoned Siblings Survive and Thrive Together
Imagine five children, the oldest 12 years old and the youngest only 2, abandoned at the house of a stepfather they barely knew. Kids who grew up in Kenya discarded in unfamiliar Uganda with an abusive stranger. Lydia, the oldest girl, remembers living in that house of violence and neglect. Their father had died, and their mother shortly remarried an abusive Ugandan man. Their mother struggled to protect herself and her children. Stitching Hope: A Journey of Love and Purpose
My name is Sylvia Nabadda, and I am 24 years old. When I was just six years old, my life took an unexpected turn. My beloved father passed away due to an unknown disease, leaving behind my sickly mother and me. We lived in the humble villages of Buwanda, where life was challenging for us. Building Ties, Creating Community in Cambodia
Part of “kinship” is reminding people that they are not alone. They belong to a group of friends, a family, or a community. Kinship Leader Pastor Jack in Cambodia provided that cohesive feeling for 120 youths from five different provinces this summer during an inspirational youth camping event. The theme of the event came from Judges 6:12, “’The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’” Pastor Jack strove to prepare the youths to be strong, firm, and ready to serve the Lord boldly in their own communities.
