World Food Day: An Unexpected Path to Discipleship

Nutritious meals are one of the most important parts of a growing child’s day. And this World Food Day (and every day!) we're excited to say that thanks to generous supporters, Kinship Leaders can fill the bellies of their Kinship Kids and distribute meals during life-saving community outreach events.

But there’s another amazing benefit to these meals that you might not immediately think of – spreading the Word of God!

Pastor Jack handing MannaPack meals to a smiling woman.Pastor Jack and his team in Cambodia recently visited two worker outposts on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. These families rarely eat healthy food, and many of the children suffer from malnutrition and disease.

Before distributing the MannaPack meals, Pastor Jack shared the Gospel with the community members. He introduced the history of the MannaPack and told the story of the manna in the Old Testament. He spoke of how God provided manna to his people in the desert. And he told them that to walk with God is to be blessed with manna daily.

Pastor Jack’s story amazed the community members, and they wanted to know more about Jesus. So, Pastor Jack and another pastor, Pastor Savuth, scheduled a weekly meeting to answer their questions. Pastor Savuth also trained and equipped the communities with the Gospel, so they could spread God’s Word too.

The two communities have now turned into outposts of the church. And it all started with a pack of food and the inspirational words of the Gospel.

These communities are seeing both spiritual and physical changes! With the nutritious MannaPack meals, the children are looking and feeling much healthier. Their illnesses are improving, and their skin is getting better.

We can't thank supporters enough for making opportunities like this possible. Contributions are not only rescuing and caring for orphans and widows but also creating disciples in places that might not have heard of Jesus yet.

Our amazing supporters are relieving starvation and introducing communities to salvation. Not just on World Food Day, but every day.

When you give today, you can reach the farthest parts of the countries we work in and provide both physical and spiritual benefits like Pastor Jack’s event. Are you ready to start now?
