Kinship United’s Kinship Family model begins with the church. Our mission centers on collaboration. While we help develop and build safe Church Homes for orphans and widows, local leaders and communities guide and manage them long-term. That approach creates lasting, community-owned care rooted in local culture, relationships, and leadership.

That mission reflects the biblical call found in James 1:27: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

Indigenous, pastor-led churches serve as the heart of each Kinship Family because local leaders understand their communities’ culture, hardships, and daily realities better than anyone else. Through those trusted relationships, Kinship United creates loving family environments where orphans and widows can heal together under one roof.

Widows become caregivers, mentors, and steady sources of comfort for children who have experienced profound loss. In return, children bring renewed joy, connection, and purpose into the lives of caregivers who have also endured hardship and grief.
