Your generosity makes a real and lasting difference for children in desperate situations—children like Marsel (but people usually call him "Selus").
Poverty tried to steal his future, but your support gave him the tools he needed to open doors he never thought possible.
Selus’ Start in Life
Unlike many of the children we serve together, Selus isn’t an orphan. His parents separated when he was young, and he lives with his father. But hardship led his father to make a difficult decision.
Education is often the key to breaking free from poverty, but for Selus, attending school wasn't an option. They simply couldn't afford it. So, his father decided to send him to his local Mercy Home in Indonesia, hoping it would give his son a chance at a better life.
New Opportunities
At the Mercy Home, Selus found more than just a place to live—he found a family, stability, and opportunities he never imagined. He received an education, discovered his passions, and had access to job prospects that changed his future forever.
Because of caring people like you, his life was transformed. Hear it from Selus himself:
“I am grateful for being able to go to school when I entered [Mercy], and I was in grade 1 at primary school. I was at the Mercy Home in Teluk Dalam for three years, and I did well at school. In 2013, I moved to Mercy Home Denpasar in Bali.
At that time, I was very difficult, and because of the support of my parents at Mercy Home, I learnt to adjust myself to a new environment, a new family, and a new school.
Praise God, God placed me in a wonderful family environment that always supports me in my education and my hobbies. My hobbies are playing football and playing music-drums, and I have served in the church by playing music.
Currently I have also been working at Mercy Indonesia foundation as a Media staff. I am grateful because the Lord Jesus is good for my life. God lifted my life when no one cared about my life.
I thank every donor who has supported me during my time at Mercy Indonesia from the beginning until now. May the Lord Jesus bless you all!”
Your decision to support Kinship United is life-changing for the children you care about. Without the Mercy Home, Selus might have faced a future filled with struggle—vulnerable to child labor, starvation, or illness.
But because of you, he graduated from vocational high school last year with a major in Computers. And now, he’s continuing his education at university, studying Computers and Multimedia.
The doors to a brighter future are wide open, and his possibilities are endless.
Your gift gives a child more than just hope—it offers them a chance to rewrite their story, to step into a life filled with purpose and possibility. Thank you for making that possible for Selus and hundreds of children like him.
You are a hero.
