Emmanuel and Precious are now two children full of joy. But life didn’t start that way for them.
Tragedy marred their young lives as both of their parents succumbed to the ravages of HIV. Despite the close-knit nature of their community, no relative was willing to take them in, fearing that they too might be infected.
With nowhere else to turn, Emmanuel and Precious found themselves in the cold, sterile environment of an orphanage. Life there was far from ideal. The orphanage demanded the children perform manual labor in exchange for their stay, making an already challenging existence even harder.
But their plight didn’t go unnoticed, as concerned neighbors reported the dire conditions of the orphanage to the local children’s department. Upon receiving this distressing news, the children’s office sought the assistance of a kind-hearted man named Pastor Paul. In 2020, he agreed to take in Emmanuel and Precious and provide them with a home at the Geta Kinship Project.
A New Beginning
Emmanuel and Precious arrived with heavy hearts, scarred by their past. The trauma they’d endured left them unable to open up or trust easily. Simple questions often led to tears instead of words.
Pastor Paul soon realized that the orphans also suffered from malnutrition and scabies. Emmanuel and Precious received the medical care they desperately needed, and their skin ailments were treated, allowing them to experience comfort for the first time in their young lives.
Emmanuel and Precious began to blossom with the Geta Kinship family’s unwavering support. Once a reserved girl, Precious now has a radiant smile as she prepares to enter grade 4. Emmanuel is right there with her, heading into grade 5, and both consistently topping their classes. No one can hold them back from pursuing their dreams. Emmanuel aspires to be both a teacher and a pastor, while Precious dreams of becoming a nurse. Their remarkable resilience and determination are evident to all who meet them.
With love and guidance from Geta’s Kinship Leaders, the orphans started to believe in themselves. They have grown into joyful, confident children with an unshakable passion for life.
You Saved Their Lives
The happy ending to this story is made possible by the generosity of you, our dear friends, who support Emmanuel and Precious through the Geta Kinship Project, offering them a home and a loving family. Today, these two bright souls continue to thrive, confident that their dreams will come true. May blessings abound for these remarkable children and the compassionate people who made their dreams a reality.
