At just fifteen, Laura carries the weight of a past scarred by tragedy. Yet her spirit remains unbroken amidst the shadows that once threatened to engulf her.
At the Start
Laura's journey began with a profound loss.
When she was only three years old, Laura’s father lost his life, leaving behind a void that echoed through her childhood. Her mother, a pillar of strength, became her solace, her guiding light through the darkness.
But fate's cruel hand struck once more in 2020, as her mother met her untimely end in a tragic accident, leaving Laura orphaned and alone.
Shunned by her own kin, branded with the curse of misfortune, Laura wandered the streets. Fighting the threat of hunger and resisting the dangers of trafficking or of simply being a young girl alone, she focused on survival.
But even in the depths of despair, a flicker of hope remained.
Intervention
Fate intervened in the form of a benevolent soul, a Good Samaritan who saw beyond the whispers and the superstitions. Moved by compassion, she reached out to the orphaned girl, offering her a haven from the harsh realities of life.
Thanks to your support of Orphan Rescue and Care, Laura was able to feel the embrace of a new family at the Geta Kinship Project.
The halls of the Kinship Project echoed with laughter and the pitter-patter of youthful footsteps while Laura embarked on her journey of healing.
You gave Laura a safe space where she could thrive and focus on her future while working to overcome the trauma of her past.
Laura’s dreams soared high, fueled by a burning desire to heal the wounds of the world.
Her Next Chapter
Laura developed an ambition to become a beacon of hope herself, a healer of bodies and souls.
With unwavering determination, she started pouring herself into her studies, her eyes set on a future where she could mend the broken. Laura's passion for science and her desire to become a doctor stem from her deep-rooted empathy and courage, traits she discovered throughout the ups and downs of her life.
As she dreams about her future, Laura sees herself not only practicing medicine but also establishing a place of healing, whether it's a hospital or a small clinic, where she can provide care and support to those in need. Especially children like those in Kinship Projects.
Thanks to her second chance at life, Laura will grow up to impact individuals and families throughout her community. And it all started because one person decided to help a child in need.
