No More Pain: Yahir Can Smile Again

Yahir is only three, but he has endured more than any child ever should.

His blind mother accidentally burned him with hot water while trying to cook a meal. But that wasn’t the most painful thing little Yahir has felt.

Yahir had a large hernia in a private area on his body. It kept growing. He was in constant pain and spent every day crying. There was no relief, and it was getting worse.

Neighbors noticed and urged his mother to take him to the hospital, but she could not afford it. She felt stuck.

A smiling young boy giving a thumbs upThat’s when a Good Samaritan from child protective services stepped in and brought Yahir to the Cayacoa Kinship Family.

When Yahir arrived at Cayacoa, his pain was obvious. He could not sit, walk, or even lay down without crying. Pastor Giovanni took him to the doctor right away and was told Yahir needed surgery as soon as possible.

Thanks to the faithful dedication of Cayacoa Kinship sponsors and “Where most needed” emergency funds, Yahir got all the help he needed.

You gave him all the required tests and hospital visits to prepare for his operation.

Yahir’s surgery was a success. His recovery required time, close attention, and care. Little by little, Yahir’s Kinship Family started to see a change.

Pastor Giovanni described Yahir’s transformation: “Something we will never forget happened. He stopped crying. Instead, he started to smile. Then he began to laugh.”

For the first time, Yahir was no longer living in constant pain. He was finally able to smile, sit down, sleep, run around, and play without hurting, like every child should.

“Moments like this remind us why we do what we do,” added Pastor Giovanni. “We also know this would not have been possible on our own. Thank you for standing with us and helping us change lives.”

Because of your support, Yahir is no longer in pain. He has a real chance at a happy childhood and his future looks very different today.
