Desperate, hungry, sick, and poor communities exist in every area we serve, across nine countries around the world.
Orphans are rescued, and desperate widows given purpose, but thanks to you, outreach doesn’t stop there. It reaches villages whose suffering goes unknown by the rest of the world.
By the time Kenya in-country leader Elizabeth heard about Wehonia village, the situation was dire.
The jiggers infestation in Wehonia took the life of a 9-year-old girl raised by her 99-year-old grandmother, who was powerless to save her.
Jiggers are parasite mites that chew into human feet, leading to extreme pain and infections that can turn deadly.
Remember the jiggers treatment camp you made possible in 2023? Because of that tremendous success (over 100 people!), we knew we could take action in Wehonia.
A Community in Need
We prepared enough hygiene support kits, food hampers, and treatment supplies for 100 people. Then almost 200 showed up.
The level of need and suffering almost brought in-country leader Elizabeth to tears. “I questioned why God had entrusted me with such a painful ministry. But I [remembered] the ministry of Jesus Christ, who humbly washed the feet of His disciples. That reminder gave me strength and encouragement to continue serving those who are suffering.”
Many cases were critical. Some children and elderly had to be carried because they could not walk. But after, they were all able to walk home pain-free.
Jigger treatment takes “washing feet” to a whole new level! Plastic tubs of warm water and medicated soap kill the bugs. Then, the latched jiggers are plucked from the wounds with tweezers, and healing pain-relief ointment soothes the area.
Thanks to you, nobody was turned away.
Children cried during the painful process of removing the jiggers, but in the end their tears turned into smiles as they felt relief.
Until sundown, the Kinship United in-country team worked tirelessly, removing jiggers from almost 200 pairs of feet, and from fingers and scalps in serious cases.
“Despite the pain, the atmosphere in the village changed as the day went on. The people were filled with excitement and hope.” Elizabeth thanks you: “Your support has restored dignity and hope to many lives.”
The desperate people of Wehonia went home with more than just a cure to their debilitating pain.
Everyone received full treatment, MannaPack meals, and more. You gave families and the elderly mattresses, treated blankets, clean clothes, soaps, and waterproof shoes.
Long-term Protection
Then, you went the extra mile. One week later, Kinship United in-country team members returned to Wehonia with a professional team to bug-spray over 100 houses. You made it possible: immediate relief and long-term protection.
Many villages still suffer in silence. Please join us in prayer to reach more, bring healing, restore dignity, and transform lives from despair to hope.
