3 Important Things You Should Know About Kinship United

Kinship United began over 20 years ago, and during those years, our team and our incredible supporters have built a strong foundation to help thousands of orphans and widows worldwide. With that many years under our belt, there’s a lot to get to know about our organization! So let’s get started!

What are 3 important things you should know about Kinship United?

1. A Kinship Project always starts with a Church

Buwanda Kinship Home in UgandaYou know the verse, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” (James 1:27)

We know God desires the church to take care of orphans. And at Kinship United we take this call seriously by making sure the children in our Kinship Projects grow up in the local church.

All of our Kinship Projects are churches first. They have a body of believers with a pastor who cares for the local community and disciples his people into a deeper relationship with Christ. Then the church also has room within its walls to care for orphans and widows.

And more than a church and a home, a Kinship Project is a safe place for the whole community to come together and grow stronger.

2. Kinship United works with indigenous pastors and caregivers

The children we serve have experienced extreme trauma and come from places you probably couldn’t imagine in your worst nightmares. For that reason, we believe the people who are best equipped to take care of them are people from their own communities.

Many of the pastors and caregivers have gone through similar experiences as our children. Some were orphaned as children, some spent time living on the streets, some experienced abuse or neglect. They understand what the children in our Kinship Projects need and they work tirelessly to care for them as best they can.

3. All of your donations go directly where you designate

Kinship United makes sure 100% of every donation you give goes exactly where you specify. You don’t have to worry about your money going to pay for an office Starbucks run. Every cent of the money you give will go directly where you indicate.

Thank you for getting to know us a little better! There’s so much more that we’re excited for you to find out about our organization. If you have questions about who we are or how our ministry works, you can reach out to us at any time.
