Kids from the Cayacoa Kinship in the Dominican Republic

Six Orphans Remind Us to Be Thankful EVERYDAY!

For an orphan, it is all about the little things. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I asked Giovanni, our in-country leader in the Dominican Republic, to ask a couple of the children living in the Cayacoa Kinship Project a simple question, “What are you thankful for?” Don’t forget, he's asking this question to a group of children who have been rescued from the streets. Young girls and boys who have survived the horrors of human trafficking, child slavery, and abuse. World Orphan Day – And YOU’RE the Hero!

Today is World Orphan Day. A day created to remind us about orphans in our world, and how we should care for and protect them. At Kinship United, we don’t need to be reminded of this day. It’s marked on our calendars, and more importantly, it’s marked on our hearts. And we know, based off your support over the years, that the same is true for you. You’ve helped us care for orphans for more than 15 years. You’ve cared for children who lost their parents to war, natural disaster, political conflict, malnutrition, and terrible diseases. Your help has changed Child Stories, Orphans

Music can help heal children from their traumatic past

How Can Choir be Better than Therapy?

Music can help heal children from their traumatic pasts. Sometimes, when looking at a picture of smiling children from our Kinship Projects, it’s easy to forget how traumatic their pasts have been. But these are children who have all suffered greatly before finding their way into a Kinship home. They've lost their parents, either by death or abandonment. They have endured hardships that most of us can’t even imagine. One of the ways that the children express these emotions and process their hard pasts is through music. Our Kinship Projects have had great success using music as therapy for the Music

Men Thyda started a church in her home in Cambodia

This Widow’s Powerful Faith in God is Transforming Her Village

Taking care of orphans and widows includes caring for them spiritually. In Cambodia orphans and widows are overlooked because of the Buddhist belief that what happens to a person in this life is based off how they lived in a past life. But Christianity teaches pure religion is to “look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27). Luckily for a widow in Cambodia a traveling evangelist took the words in James 1:27 to heart. Men Thyda’s Story: Men Thyda started a church in her home in Cambodia. Five years ago a travelling evangelist came to the remote village Community

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

What Does United Nations Day Have To Do With You?

How does the United Nations create sustainable development? Check out their goals to get a better idea. Monday was United Nations Day! This day celebrates the creation of the United Nations. Wait wait! Stick with me! I promise this will get interesting soon. The United Nations is an international body, created in the wake of WWII, in an attempt to avoid WWIII. It allows for international discussions and decisions to be made in peaceful ways. It acts as a global think tank for information on humanitarian issues, and seeks to provide humanitarian aid around the world. It’s extremely important, and United Nations
