West Pokot County has some of the most underprivileged communities in all of Kenya. Water is the most crucial issue, in addition to other crises like hunger and limited access to healthcare and education.
The Kinship United Kenya team arrived with two pickup truck beds full of bottled water, food, and special cookie biscuits and milk for the kids. As they distributed their supplies to the crowd, the team saw the critical water crisis with their own eyes.
Widows, mothers, and young girls walk to retrieve water as far as 18km (over 10 miles) away, daily. Everyone depends upon one well, located near a school. Students report to school in the morning with empty containers, and after their lessons, they fill the containers and carry the water all the way home.
Kinship United Kenya prayed for the ability to provide West Pokot County with accessible water – and that’s where you came in.
The drilling of a borehole in West Pokot has begun. When completed, the new well will provide accessible, clean, natural water to thousands of people who desperately need it to survive.
You did that! When you support Kinship Projects, you are also supporting the impoverished communities around them. Kinship Projects do community outreach in the form of food, evangelism, medical services, and water source projects like this one in West Pokot County.
Well, what’s next?
Remember the medical camp at the Kireka Kinship Project in Uganda last summer? Nearly 250 people received free medical care at that event. We want to do it again and to make it an even bigger success than it was in 2022!
There will be two major events in the upcoming months. One is a medical outreach camp to provide free, vital medical services and health education, and the other is a Gospel outreach event to foster discipleship and unite and uplift a community. We aim to reach approximately 1,500 to 2,000 people across four different villages.
The dates for both outreach programs have been set, and the preparations are underway! Keep a lookout in our newsletter, here on our blog, and on our social media to hear more about these exciting, upcoming, life-transforming events!
