We do not post anything from email unless explicit permission is provided from the sender, but we may occasionally keep email for our own records or for legal purposes.
ONLINE DONATIONS: All credit card and personal profile information provided to Kinship United is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that allows a browser to automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before it is sent.
USE OF DONOR INFORMATION: All donor information collected (donor name, address, phone number, email address and donation amount) is used by Kinship United only. The information is used for the specific purposes of acknowledging donations, providing updates on our mission, internal analysis, record keeping and reporting to relevant US and State agencies.
INFORMATION SHARING: All information collected on this site or offline is used by Kinship United only. At no time will we loan, rent, sell, share or otherwise give any of the information collected by Kinship United to any third party, with the exception of information that is formally solicited by an authorized law enforcement agency.
CHANGES: We reserve the right to make changes to this privacy policy, but we pledge that no changes will be put into effect without this document first being updated to reflect impending changes.

Kinship United ("we", "our", "us", “Charity”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Data Privacy Policy applies to our websites that link to this Policy.
1. Lawful, fair and transparent processing
a. To ensure its processing of data is lawful, fair and transparent, the Charity shall maintain a Register of Systems.
b. The Register of Systems shall be reviewed at least annually.
c. Individuals have the right to access their personal data and any such requests made to the Charity shall be dealt with in a timely manner. If you have any concerns about how your data is handled, or to add your name to our do-not-contact list, please email, call or write us.

2. What rights you have over your data
a. If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
3. Lawful purposes
a. Where consent is relied upon as a lawful basis for processing data, evidence of sign-up consent shall be kept with the personal data.
b. Where communications are sent to individuals based on their consent, the option for the individual to revoke their consent should be clearly available and systems should be in place to ensure such revocation is reflected accurately in the Charity’s systems. Refer to Section 1 for revocation methods.
4. Data minimization
a. The Charity shall ensure that personal data are adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed.
5. Accuracy
a. The Charity shall take reasonable steps to ensure personal data is accurate.
b. Where necessary for the lawful basis on which data is processed, steps shall be put in place to ensure that personal data is kept up to date.
6. How long we retain your data
a. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
b. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
7. Who we share your data with
a. Kinship United does not sell donor information to anyone, including other nonprofit organizations. In order for Kinship United to make any donation transaction it uses third party providers as “processors”, like cloud-based services and payment processors. Refer to “Register of Systems” section and their privacy policies.
8. Comments
a. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
9. Media
a. If you upload images to the website or send through email, you should avoid using images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.
10. Contact Forms
a. Information is collected using a variety of methods. You will be asked to provide your personal information when making a donation, or requesting information or updates through our website, e-mail, direct mail or telephone communications.
11. Cookies
a. If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
b. Our server tracks anonymous information, such as IP addresses, from our website visitors. In addition, we use services hosted by third parties, such as Google Analytics and Facebook pixel to provide you with a better experience, diagnose technical problems, analyze trends and improve our website. These tools collect information anonymously using cookies, tracking visitor browsing actions and patterns and reporting website trends without identifying individual visitors. This information is used for internal processes, to measure web traffic and to improve the content of our web pages. No personally identifiable information is collected or used in this process.
c. You can opt out of Google Analytics without affecting how you visit our site. For more information about Google Analytics or to opt out of Google Analytics, please go to Google’s opt-out information page.
d. In addition, we may use third-party vendor remarketing tracking cookies, including the Google Ads tracking cookie, to advertise on third party websites. Consequently, after leaving our website you may see our advertisement on other websites, such as the Google search results page or websites using the Google Display Network. As always we respect your privacy and are not collecting any identifiable information through the use of Google’s or any other third-party remarketing system. Any data collected will be used in accordance with our own privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.
12. Embedded content from other websites
a. Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
13. Security
a. The Charity shall ensure that personal data is stored securely using modern software that is kept up-to-date. We use third party software to process any payment information. These third party companies are in PCI Compliance. You can look at their policies from “Register of Systems” section.
b. Access to personal data shall be limited to personnel who need access and appropriate security should be in place to avoid unauthorized sharing of information.
c. When personal data is deleted this should be done safely such that the data is irrecoverable.
d. Appropriate back-up and disaster recovery solutions shall be in place.
14. Breach
a. In the event of a breach of security leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of, or access to, personal data, the Charity shall promptly assess the risk to people’s rights and freedoms and if appropriate, report this breach to the ICO (more information on the ICO website).
