Kakenya Ntaiya
A Girl Who Demanded School
Kakenya Ntaiya was told that women were only born to be wives and mothers. Typically, girls in Kenya don’t get to go to school after 8th grade and get married shortly after. Even if she didn’t know it yet, Kakenya will be an inspiration for young girls for years to come. It started with a terrible act disguised as tradition and ends with a masters degree and protecting young girls from the same act that shaped her destiny. Her struggle and sacrifice make this talk unforgettable.
Girls are the untapped resource in countries like Kenya and so many other countries. Giving girls the opportunity to grow and follow their own paths is something we take very seriously at Kinship United. Kakenya‘s journey inspires us to continue supporting girls inside and outside our Kinship Projects with feminine products to keep them from missing school.
