A little boy runs five miles to the closest water hole. After filling his jerry cans with four gallons of filthy water, he throws them on his back and begins the long trek home. When he starts to get thirsty, he thinks about how that brown water is poison until it’s boiled. But with every step he takes the swooshing liquid gets more tempting.
Finally, he gives in and drinks long and deep. Satisfied, he finishes his journey home. But soon, the boy gets sick with a fever and painful stomach cramps.
The kids at Lodwar Kinship Project know this too well. They share their only source of water with over 500 other people and 2,000 animals in their small village in the Turkana Desert. They take turns walking 5 miles one way to reach this shallow, dirty water source.
The Lodwar Kinship kids need a deep well to provide them with clean water and adequate sanitation. But a well as deep as the one they need will cost up to $10,000.
The kids at Lodwar Kinship Project need you to act now. The desert village of Lodwar is in the middle of a drought, and water resources are running low. You see, their only option for water is a shallow, muddy hole filled with parasites from animal waste. The lack of safe drinking water isn’t just inconvenient—it’s lethal.
You can stop their agonizing thirst and continual illness. You can give them a solution to their greatest need. 100% of your gift today will go to build a well for the Lodwar Kinship Project: a well the entire community can use.
Because of you, these 37 children won’t have to worry about the water they drink. You’ll protect them from painful stomach aches and keep them healthy. Because of you these children could have access to clean, fresh drinking water. In the middle of the desert!
Thank you for hearing these children’s cry. Thank you for standing by them. And thank you for giving the Lodwar Kinship and their community a gift they could have never gotten on their own – access to safe, clean water.
