What is kinship?
It’s relationships, connection, family, tribe. It runs deep. And it’s what Kinship Cambodia strove to instill in their community through their latest outreach event.
Pastor Jack and his ministry let their light shine through an incredible worship celebration. Appropriately titled “Light of the World,” this special event saw over 100 young people connect with their faith and each other.
The verse Matthew 5:14-16 inspired the empowering theme of this gathering:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
In line with the theme, Pastor Jack and his ministry’s message focused on the idea that we inherit our light from God, and we should use that light to shine to the world.
The "Light of the World" event served as a beacon of hope for a struggling and disconnected community. Attendees built relationships with each other through participating in worship services, singing songs, playing games, and sharing meals.
And it looks like the event was a success!
Pastor Jack observed that after this outreach program, the community seemed to become more active in social work and more likely to “love thy neighbor.” They became more friendly towards one another and even seemed happier.
This event was a beautiful example of what faith, compassion, and community collaboration can achieve. And it shows the impact one Kinship Project can have on an entire community! Serving as a church or a home for those who need it, the church is driven by a mission to uplift and empower the minds and souls of its community members where God has led them to serve.
Thank you for helping to make incredible opportunities like this possible.
