What first drew you to Kinship United?

A caregiver hugs her childFor many supporters, it was a deep spiritual conviction. A conviction that's reflected in numerous Bible verses that demonstrate God’s profound love for orphans and widows.

Often overlooked and outcast by society, the fatherless and the widowed hold a special place in God’s teachings. The Scripture not only urges us to acknowledge their struggles but also to help in their upliftment and support. These verses act as reminders of the importance of compassion and kindness.

So, let’s delve into six powerful Bible verses that speak to this divine request and call us to look after those who need help the most.

James 1:27

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

Isaiah 1:17

“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”

Deuteronomy 10:18

“He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.”

Psalm 68:5

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.”

Zechariah 7:9-10

“This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’”

Jeremiah 49:11

“‘Leave your fatherless children; I will keep them alive. Your widows too can depend on me.’”

The words from James, Isaiah, Deuteronomy, Psalms, Zechariah, and Jeremiah are timeless reminders of God’s call to extend love and support to orphans and widows. These verses call us to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world that often turns away from the vulnerable. They encourage us to embrace justice, mercy, and care, not just in words but in our daily actions.

Incredible supporters like you, through faith and action, can bring light into the lives of orphans and widows. You can offer hope, comfort, and a sense of belonging in a world that can sometimes seem dark and uncaring. Let these divine words act as motivation to continue our work together. You can help make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time.
