In honor of World Health Day (April 7th), we wanted to remind you just how big of an impact you make for communities in need worldwide.
Access to quality healthcare feels impossible to neighbors struggling with poverty, a lack of funds, or the inability to travel the long distance to a doctor. Can you imagine how hopeless they must feel knowing they need care, but they aren’t able to get it?
The good news is you’re turning those negative feelings around. Because you’re helping Kinship Projects bring healthcare to them!
“Is any sick among you? (…) Let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up…” - James 5:14-15
The Kireka Kinship Project in Uganda has run two successful large-scale medical and dental clinics so far. Community members received treatment for numerous health issues, ranging from malaria to wound care to tooth decay.
HUNDREDS received free medical care!
At their first event alone, the three-day clinic treated over 240 people. Doctors cared for the sick and offered advice for healing and overall healthy living. The clinic also introduced attendees to the Kireka church, who saw an uptick in churchgoers afterwards.
Emergency Healthcare
And over in Kenya, your support made it possible for team members, Kinship Alumni, and volunteers to host an emergency treatment camp for a community’s severe jigger infestation. The five-day camp treated over a hundred people. It also provided new clothes, bedding, shoes, and mattresses to families after their infested materials were disposed of. Some of whom have never been able to afford a mattress before.
You changed their lives that day.
John’s Story
But treating hundreds of people isn’t the only way to make a big impact. Saving one life is just as important. And in this instance, that life was John’s.
John is a young member of one of the community programs in Uganda. He became deathly sick with malaria. And he couldn’t leave his bed, too weak to even lift his head. But your support made it possible for our team to jump into action after they learned of John’s condition. You provided him with the treatment he needed to make a full recovery.
Without your help, John wouldn’t be here today.
Indirect Impact
Making a difference this World Health Day isn’t always about providing medical care directly. Because by fostering an encouraging environment where children feel like they can become anything they want, you’re enabling them to create their own impact in the medical field.
Like Cate.
Cate joined the Kireka Kinship Project at a young age. After having her own challenges with limited medical resources, Cate made it her personal mission to enter the healthcare field, so she could make a difference for others facing the same difficulties.
Celebrating YOU this World Health Day
These beautiful stories of impact are only possible because of you and your kind heart. Thanks to your generous support, Kinship Projects are able to organize and run clinics, address emergency medical situations, and raise children who dream of going into the medical field themselves.
We couldn’t do any of this without you. You’re a lifesaver. Literally.
